West Holmes Varsity Knights topped New Philadelphia Varsity Quakers 4-2 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Zoe Walter singled, scoring two runs. A home run to center field by Briar Cline following a 8-pitch at-bat put West Holmes Varsity Knights on the board in the top of the fourth. West Holmes Varsity Knights committed an error, which helped New Philadelphia Varsity Quakers tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth. Briar Cline earned the win for West Holmes Varsity Knights. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. West Holmes Varsity Knights accumulated 10 hits in the game. Briar Cline provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led West Holmes Varsity Knights with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Zalina Proper and Emma Miller each collected two hits for West Holmes Varsity Knights. West Holmes Varsity Knights play at home on Thursday against New Philadelphia Varsity Quakers in their next game.
