The West Holmes Girls Golf team turned in another strong performance Monday at the Lady Pirate Invitational at Zoar Golf Course. Despite competing without senior Payton Hudson, sophomore Zoe Walter stepped up into the No. 4 spot in the lineup and helped the Knights earn a third-place finish out of 17 teams with a team score of 383.
Leading the way was Mattie Shankel, who carded an 85, highlighted by seven pars and one birdie, to earn a seventh-place individual finish. Aubrey Burchfield shot an 88 with four pars, finishing 11th overall and earning one of the tournament’s top-12 individual awards. Sophie Robb added a 90 with three pars, while Zoe Walter contributed a 120 in her varsity lineup role.
The Knights continue to build on an impressive early season with another top-three team finish against a strong field.
