On Saturday, September 26, the Knights Soccer Team traveled to Apple Creek looking to pick up their third win of the season.
Waynedale struck first, finding the back of the net in the 24th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Knights answered just before halftime, as Garrett Obrst, returning to the lineup from injury, scored in the 40th minute to even the match at 1-1.
The Golden Bears came out strong in the second half, scoring twice to build a 3-1 advantage. Obrst wasn’t finished, however, as he found the net for a second time in the 65th minute to pull the Knights back within one.
The Knights turned up the pressure over the final 15 minutes, pushing hard for the equalizer. They nearly found it in the final minute, but the Golden Bears held on to secure a 3-2 victory.
Jimmy Wengerd and Greysen Uhl were both shown yellow cards in the second half as the match became increasingly physical.
The Knights will look to bounce back next week with two showdowns. West Holmes will travel to Ashland on Tuesday to take on the Arrows in a OCC battle, before heading to Massillon on Thursday to face the Tigers.
The Knights continue their pursuit of win No. 3 on the season.
