Tri-Valley opened the scoring off a bouncing ball inside the box that fell to a Tri-Valley player, who finished it into the top of the net. They added another less than two minutes later on a shot from the top of the box that found the upper-right corner despite keeper Laurie Croskey getting a hand on it.
Charli Murphy brought the Knights back into the game when Ava Reiheld found Murphy making a run down the middle of the field. Murphy controlled the ball and placed it into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Tri-Valley restored its two-goal lead when a miscleared ball fell outside the box and was volleyed into the bottom corner, making the score 3-1 going into halftime.
Four minutes into the second half, Tri-Valley added another goal off a free kick from just outside the box.
Charli Murphy scored her second goal of the game when her sister, Codi Murphy, played a through ball on the ground into her path. Charli fought through a foul before placing the ball toward the far bottom corner, where it hit the post and went into the goal.
Tri-Valley added its final goal on a shot from outside the box that Croskey saved, but the rebound was followed up and poked into the back of the net.
Croskey finished the game with nine saves.
Charli Murphy earned WKLM’s Player of the Game for her two goals.
The Lady Knights will travel to River View on September 1st with a 6pm kickoff.
