The Knights Middle School Wrestling team hosted a tournament in the Dungeon on Saturday. Despite everyone in the lineup battling sickness in one way or another, the Knights managed to take 5th out of 17 teams. The Knights looked like absolute dynamite their first few rounds of wrestling, however, as the tournament went on, the knights lost steam and they simply had nothing left to give. Overall, coach Wilcox was proud of the effort, the fight, and the grit, the entire team showed. Placing individually for the Knights were: – Weston Rogers, Rorick Taggart , Jake Lennington, Jett Justice, Ryker Stokovich taking 6th place – Gavin Hoover and Hudson Ross taking 5th place – Clint Burgett, Bryson Snyder, and Josie Hoover taking 4th place – Mason Dye and Kolston Wagers taking third place – and Rowand Mathie who was the champion in his weight class. Coach Wilcox and his assistants couldn’t narrow the Knight of the week down to one person. Instead, Coach Wilcox has one honorable mention and two, Co-Knights of the week. Honorable Mention goes to Josie Hoover for the toughness, coachability, and grit she showed in her tournament on Saturday. Co-Knights of the Week were: Rowand Mathie for his solid technique and dominating high caliber opponents and the mental fortitude he showed in the process and Hudson Ross for his continued improvement, aggressiveness, and his willingness to improve every day.
