The Knights Wrestling Team placed 5th out of 37 teams at the Division 2 District Tournament at Gallia Academy. 10 wrestlers entered the tournament and 4 battled their way to the podium. -The team was led by, Senior, Peyton Martin. Peyton earned his 2nd consecutive State Qualifying bid by winning the District Tournament over a returning State Placer for the 2nd consecutive week. Peyton is now a 4 time District Qualifier and also a returning State Placer, finishing 8th at State last season. -Louden Dixon dominated on his way to the finals. In the finals, it was a match-up of two of the best wrestlers in the country. The match was decided by a toughly contested takedown in the first period. Louden, a Senior, finished 2nd at Districts and is now a 4 time District finalist, 4 time State Qualifier (only the 6th 4 time State Qualifier in school history) and a returning State Champion from last season. -Easton Ross, Sophomore, had an amazing District Tournament. In the first round, he defeated an opponent that he had lost to just weeks ago. Then, in the Championship Semifinals, he avenged another regular season loss by earning his way to the District Championship. In the finals, Easton lost a tight battle 4-3 to finish in 2nd place and earn his first State Qualifying appearance. -Senior, Gabe Umstead, also had an amazing District Tournament. In the first round, Gabe lost a back and forth battle to his opponent from New Lexington. He dominated his way through the consolation bracket till he faced the same opponent he had lost to in round one. In this rematch, a chance to qualify was on the line. Gabe wrestled an incredible match and flipped the result winning 4-3. This will be Gabe’s first time qualifying for the State Tournament in his 2nd District Tournament appearance. -Senior, Dylan Sours put together an impressive tournament, but came up just short of qualifying for the State Tournament. During the tournament, Dylan flipped a regular season loss, defeating a 2 time State Qualifier to earn his way on the podium. During his tournament run, he won his 100th career match! Dylan finished in 6th place at the District Tournament. Great career Dylan! -Junior, Wyatt Crabb finished his District Tournament one win shy of placing at Districts, winning 2 matches. -Sophomore, Oliver Hiller finished 1-2 at his first District Tournament. -Junior, Lincoln Goans finished his first District Tournament with 2 wins and just one win shy of finishing on the podium. -Senior, Cam McCluggage, finished his District Tournament coming up just shy of earning his 2nd State Qualifying appearance. Cam finishes his career as a 2025 State Qualifier, 78 career wins with 35 of them coming by pin. Great career Cam!
